Injectables & Fillers

Botox Juvederm Maine Med Spa

What are injectables and fillers?

The visible effects of aging affect all of us eventually. Fillers and Injectables are an excellent way to address a few of the primary causes of visible aging on our face, neck, and hands. As we age, the skin loses elasticity. It’s common for the facial tissue to thin slightly, which causes visible wrinkles. These are especially common around the nose and mouth. The areas around the cheeks, lips and the areas under the eye can look slightly hollow and less plump as we age. Injectables and fillers can address all these issues effectively, reversing the signs of aging and restoring your youthful appearance.

What kinds of Injectables and Fillers are best?

There are two primary categories of fillers and injectables. The two are often used to reverse the visible signs of aging—the first consists of neuromodulators. The most common product in this category is Botox, but other options include Jeuveau and Dysport. Neuromodulators are used to weaken or even temporarily paralyze muscles in the face or neck.

Neuromodulators are considered safe and have been on the beauty scene and practiced safely for 15 years. An estimated 11 million people worldwide have received Botox injections. These services are popular because they are quick, relatively pain-free, and the results are immediate. Most patients choose Botox to treat issues like lines around the mouth or forehead creases. However, it’s commonly used for non-cosmetic uses, like migraine relief.

The second category is dermal fillers. Similar to neuromodulators, fillers are also an injectable product that sits under the skin. The purpose of fillers is to provide support to multiple areas around the face, like under the eyes or lips. The most common products use hyaluronic acid. You might have noticed this ingredient on your other skincare products, as it’s often used in hydrating serums. Others are considered non-hyaluronic acid (Non-H.A.) that feature a different consistency and typically last slightly longer.

If you are unhappy with the visible signs of aging and have considered injectables before, now is the perfect time to book your consultation. You’ll have a chance to ask all your questions and receive advice on what products would be best to help you achieve your optimal results.

Injectables

BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment

Botox is the original neuromodulator injectable. It’s FDA-approved and considered highly safe and effective and is still the #1 treatment of its type on the market. They are commonly used to minimize frown lines, wrinkles around the eyes, and forehead lines. Botox is the OG of the injectable world. It’s been deemed safe and effective by the FDA.

At Coastal Aesthetics we take a conservative but effective approach to treatment and work with you throughout the treatment process.

Kybella®

KYBELLA uses deoxycholic acid (a naturally occurring molecule in the body) to aid in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. It’s the only injectable of its kind FDA approved for use under the chin also known as, “double-chin” fat. When injected, it destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness—leaving you with a pristine jawline. Treatments are based on your individual needs and how much fat is needed to be injected. We recommend a series of 1-4 treatments, 4 weeks apart but your individual consultation will allow our team of medical experts to provide a more specific treatment plan tailored to you.

Fillers

It’s normal for our skin to lose its elasticity as we age, along with the healthy fat pads under our skin. The effects of this process can be noticeable as early as age 30, and most patients will comment that they see skin sagging in areas they never saw before. If you are starting to notice wrinkles or shadowing in the cheeks, around the mouth, nose, or lower jowls, fillers are an excellent option to restore the youthful fullness of your face. Even if you’re noticing deeper wrinkles or folds, fillers can generate a noticeable improvement. Although full results can take up to 2 weeks, most patients can see subtle changes immediately, especially to the lips and cheeks. Here is a comprehensive list of some of the fillers we offer and their specialized functions.

Juvederm®

Juvederm is an injectable hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler (hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body) that is used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It was FDA-approved for cosmetic use in 2006 and many patients choose Juvederm over the other filler based competitors due to it being less painful and more effective. Juvederm comes in a few different formulations, which have been designed to treat specific areas of the face. Formulations include:

  • Ultra XC
  • Ultra Plus XC
  • Volbella XC
  • Voluma XC
  • Vollure

With Juvederm fillers, we are able to replace lost volume resulting in a more rested and youthful appearance without looking overdone or too “Hollywood”. Our highly trained medical staff will discuss with you which filler would be appropriate for you to fill the desired area. We are excited to restore your natural beauty and help build your confidence.
