Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Fine Lines & Wrinkles Overview

As we age, it’s normal to lose the plump, youthful skin we once had and begin to notice fine lines and wrinkles. Fine lines and wrinkles can be more visible for some, depending on age, genetics, skin type, and lifestyle factors. If you want to reduce the look of your wrinkles, there are various ways to smooth them with cosmetic treatments that yield incredible results.

At Coastal Aesthetics, we are pleased to offer services like Botox, Microneedling, Alma Hybrid, and Opus Plasma to ease the look of aging skin and reclaim the fresh, taut skin you desire.

What Causes Fine Lines & Wrinkles?

Several factors cause fine lines and wrinkles, a normal part of the aging process. If you are wondering what causes wrinkles under the eyes and sagging skin, here are few things to consider:

Collagen and elastin are proteins that keep our skin smooth, firm, and elastic. However, as we age, natural collagen and elastin levels decrease and the skin produces less of these proteins. A lack of collagen and elastin causes the skin to lose elasticity and sag, leading to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

As we age, our skin produces fewer natural oils, which can cause it to become dry and dull. Dry skin can make fine lines and wrinkles look deeper and more pronounced than they actually are.

Exposure to the sun's UV radiation can cause damage to the skin, leading to the breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Repeated facial expressions, such as frowning, smiling, or squinting, can cause fine lines and wrinkles to form in the areas of the face where the muscles are most active. Over time, as you continue to make the same expressions and the muscles contract, they can cause permanent wrinkles under the eyes, between the eyes, around the mouth, and on the forehead. This is where med spa services like Botox can make a dramatic improvement.

Smoking, poor diet, and stress can contribute to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles by damaging the skin and reducing its ability to repair itself.

How To Ease Fine Lines & Wrinkles

While you can do things to help ease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and even help prevent their formation in the first place, aging is inevitable. At Coastal Aesthetics, we help patients reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles with med spa services that yield amazing results.

Botox

Botox has been widely used in the aesthetic and beauty industry since receiving FDA approval in 2002. Since the injections are quick and painless, Botox is a favorite among patients for its dramatic and immediate results. Patients are always excited to see how Botox reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Botox injections reduce muscle contractions by blocking nerve signals to muscles. When the injected muscles can’t contract normally, the skin relaxes and softens, improving the wrinkle. A bonus is that using Botox can prevent new wrinkles from forming, so it can be an effective preventative treatment against deep, permanent wrinkles.

Botox works especially well in easing frown lines, fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s-feet. In addition, it can be used around the mouth to diminish wrinkling and in the chin to lessen a dimpled look.

Alma Hybrid

Alma Hybrid is a cosmetic treatment that combines two technologies: radiofrequency (RF) and microneedling. This treatment can help lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture.

The combination of microneedling and RF energy can help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin tone and elasticity. Because the treatment stimulates the skin’s natural healing response, the results are gradual and continue to improve over time.

Alma Hybrid effectively treats many skin issues, including wrinkles and fine lines, acne and other scars, uneven skin tone, and hyperpigmentation. There are three different functions of the Alma Hybrid, each addressing different skin conditions with unique treatment plans. During your consultation with Coastal Aesthetics, we will determine the ideal treatment to meet your needs.

Microneedling

Microneedling is an innovative skin rejuvenation treatment that improves the skin’s appearance using a device with tiny needles that create safe micro-injuries to the skin. The purpose of microneedling is to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, which can produce new collagen and elastin fibers.

At Coastal Aesthetics, we use SkinPen, the only device cleared by the FDA as a Class II microneedling device. During the procedure, the device is gently pressed into the skin, creating small punctures on the skin’s surface. These tiny punctures trigger the skin’s natural healing response.

As the skin heals, it produces new collagen and elastin fibers, which can help to improve the skin’s appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, age spots, and hyperpigmentation.

Opus Plasma-RF

Opus Plasma-RF is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses plasma energy to improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin tone and elasticity. This cutting-edge technology uses metal pins that are supercharged with high voltage. When the pins are in close contact with the skin, they react to atmospheric pressure in the air, creating plasma and making micro-thermal zones of fractional injuries to the skin.

The natural healing process jumpstarts collagen production through a wound-healing response, similar to how microneedling works. However, this technology uses RF (radio frequency) and microplasma instead of needles.

At Coastal Aesthetics, we use the Colibri applicator because it provides the highest power solution for treating fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes (periorbital) and mouth (perioral). It also works as a non-surgical eyelift and provides a solution for saggy, lax, or excess skin, which previously would have required surgery to remove.
